Works on this program explore the vibrant musical colors and textures of different instruments of the orchestra:<br /><br /><ul><li>Mozart&rsquo;s&nbsp;<em>Wind Serenade in C Minor</em>, showcasing the elegance of wind instruments.</li><li>Stravinsky&rsquo;s&nbsp;<em>Suite No. 1</em>,&nbsp;a&nbsp;lively and playful collection of short movements brimming with character, performed by&nbsp;a&nbsp;small chamber orchestra.</li><li>Holst&rsquo;s&nbsp;<em>St. Paul Suite</em>,&nbsp;a&nbsp;beloved string orchestra work that blends English folk tunes with bold harmonies and high energy.</li></ul><br /><strong>Pastorale<br />Sunday, May 4, 2025 | 3:00 PM | Bryan Station High School Auditorium</strong><br />The full orchestra takes the stage on the unofficial Star Wars holiday, &ldquo;May the Fourth,&rdquo; with&nbsp;a&nbsp;program blending cinematic and classical pastoral imagery:<br /><br /><ul><li>Beethoven&rsquo;s&nbsp;<em>Symphony No. 6</em>&nbsp;(<em>Pastoral</em>),&nbsp;a&nbsp;radiant depiction of nature&rsquo;s beauty and tranquility.</li><li>Mozart&rsquo;s&nbsp;<em>Oboe Concerto</em>,&nbsp;a&nbsp;showcase of lyrical grace and virtuosic brilliance. Featured musician Dr. Diego Espinoza Mas&iacute;as is in his second year as an LCO member.</li><li><em>Star Wars Epic Suite 1 &amp; 2</em>, an exhilarating arrangement of John Williams&rsquo; legendary film scores, adapted by Robert W. Smith.</li><li>Holst&rsquo;s&nbsp;<em>St. Paul Suite</em>, an encore performance from the April concert.</li></ul><br />&ldquo;We are excited to present these selections, which blend timeless classical masterpieces with iconic cinematic music,&rdquo; This family-friendly event is a great introduction to orchestral music for children, or a fun reminder of Halloween favorites for the young at heart.</span></span><br /><span><span style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0)">The concert program includes recognizable favorites from classic stories like </span><span style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0)">The Sorcerer&rsquo;s Apprentice</span><span style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"> and </span><span style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0)">Peter and the Wolf</span><span style="color:rgb(0, 0, 0)">. Dr. Wiggins has a [...] ]]></description><content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class="paragraph"><em>Dr. Wiggins will make his official debut at the Lexington Community Orchestra Fall Concert on November 18, 2018, at 3pm at Bryan Station High School.<br /></em><br />(Lexington, KY) November 12, 2018 &ndash; Dr. Timothy Wiggins, Assistant Professor of Music Education and Associate Director of Bands at Eastern Kentucky University, has been named as the new Music Director of the Lexington Community Orchestra (LCO). The announcement was made by the Lexington Community Orchestra Board of Directors. Dr. Wiggins has assumed the title of Music Director in time for the upcoming 2018-19 Season.<br /><br />Wiggins has been well-received by the musicians of LCO. Board member and principal cellist Nancy McKenney highlights his experience and rapport with the members of the orchestra, stating that, "LCO is fortunate to have a director who is not only a very talented musician, but highly personable as well."<br /><br />Dr. Wiggins succeeds Jeremy Mulholland, who led the Lexington Community Orchestra for ten years.<br /><strong><br />Dr. Timothy Wiggins</strong><br />Dr. Wiggins is an Assistant Professor of Music Education and Associate Director of Bands at Eastern Kentucky University. He holds a PhD in Music Education from Florida State University, a MM in Wind Conducting from the University of Memphis, and BM in Orchestral Bassoon Performance and Instrumental Music Education from Arizona State University. With an impressive history of teaching and conducting musicians of all levels, as well as his accomplishments as a professional musician, his talents will be a great asset to Lexington Community Orchestra.<br /><br />Dr. Wiggins expressed his enthusiasm about this new position. &ldquo;I am honored to be working with such a talented group of musicians from the greater Lexington area. I have always advocated that great music comes from within all walks of life, and I am thrilled to be a part of this experience for these musicians and the supporters of this fantastic organization.&rdquo;<br /><br />Dr. Wiggins will conduct LCO&rsquo;s first concert this season on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at 3pm at Bryan Station High School.
