History of LCO
The Lexington Community Orchestra was founded in January 1990, by University of Kentucky graduate music student Richard Hoffman, because of an observed need for more performance opportunities for Lexington and Central Kentucky musicians. Orchestra members are semi-professional and professional musicians throughout the Lexington and Central Kentucky areas. The Board of Directors are all current performing members of the orchestra. The Lexington Community orchestra obtained 501(c)3 nonprofit status September 5, 2008.

The orchestra is proud to have collaborated with many other performers and community organizations in the past 35 years. Past partners include: Asbury University, Central Kentucky Jewish Federation, Central Kentucky Youth Orchestras, Eastern Kentucky University Symphony Orchestra, Kentucky Ballet Theatre, and The Lexington Singers.

Music Directors include:
Richard Hoffman: 1990-1992
Jon Roller: 1992-2007
Jeremy Mulholland: 2008-2018
Timothy Wiggins: 2018-present
